Hacienda Barranca

Authentic and private Spanish Hacienda set up against the majestic San Jacinto foothills

Due to high visitation and staffing constraints, local area offerings such as restaurants, bars, shopping, and shared amenities may have limited hours or availability. Cell phone and internet service may also be impacted during high visitation periods. Please contact us directly to discuss the impact during your stay dates.

An authentic and private Spanish hacienda nestled against the San Jacinto foothills, Hacienda Barranca offers a feeling of total privacy with expansive mountain views in the Mesa neighborhood just minutes from downtown Palm Springs and golf courses, parks and hiking trails.

A custom home with a Hollywood history fit for Palm Springs, Hacienda Barranca belonged to Ocean’s Eleven producer Jerry Weintraub after he bought it, sight unseen, during a poker game with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and George Hamilton. The filmmaker liked the home so much he lived in it for nearly 20 years.

Today, terracotta roofs, stacked-stone walls and naturally landscaped grounds, accented by a courtyard fountain, evoke a European villa. Wander through the desert gardens, relax under the custom-built pergola, or soak up the sun in a poolside lounger. On cool evenings, gather with friends for stargazing around the mountainside firepit.

The thoughtfully designed outdoor space also features a family-style dining table by an outdoor fireplace, a BBQ grill, and a large stone saline hot tub. Design enthusiasts will appreciate the artisan-crafted touches throughout, from the cobalt-blue mosaic tile of the swimming pool to the intricate woodwork of the furniture.

Inside, the 3-bedroom casa combines the warmth of modern decor with bold, Spanish-inspired patterns and original artwork . An open-concept living and formal dining area greets guests with two full-length ivory sofas, which frame a cozy stacked-stone fireplace. Just behind it, walls of glass french doors reveal desert garden views. In a separate media room, a comfy sofa and twin armchairs face a large-screen TV for relaxed movie nights.

The living areas flow seamlessly into the kitchen and dining area. Enjoy the sunrise and coffee from the covered outdoor dining table.

The gourmet kitchen boasts alder wood cabinets, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, Viking gas range and a wine cooler. A wall-mounted TV will entertain your chef, while four high-top stools at the breakfast bar allow for social cooking.

We celebrated a birthday at this charming Palm Springs oasis. It has all the amenities of a five-star diamond hotel, and more. It's a treat to be able to prepare a nice steak and king crab dinner in the spacious, upscale kitchen. We didn't have any problems with any of the resort-like features of the home. The pool resembles Cancun. The jacuzzi is hot, and the high-pressure misting system around the entire perimeter is always a welcome relief. We especially love the beautiful landscaping, where each cactus is accentuated with its own lighting, and the mountain in the backyard, radiating energy that is unique to Palm Springs. But perhaps our most favorite feature about this lovely home is the elevated firepit overlooking the city. For some reason, perhaps because it is elevated or protected by the private mountain next to it, the stars shine brighter, the air is crisper, the cigars taste smoother, the wine tastes better and the conversations last longer by this firepit. We would rebook in a heartbeat, because this place is good for the soul.

This house is amazing. It is great for a family get away or a girls weekend. The layout of the home is designed for entertaining. You do not feel like you are on top of each other. The pool & hot tub are great. There is also a fire pit with great city views. The kitchen is well appointed with anything you may need. Located close to great restaurants and shopping. We will be back again!!!
