Loved Being Back!

This lakefront cabin has an exceptional view from the screened porch so close to the lake it’s practically like being on a boat. Near a loon sanctuary, there are daily loon sitings and calls. Swimming with a child is convenient at the adjacent public beach. Evening fires outdoors were perfect for smores. Expect rustic, unclean and disorganized kitchen items, small beds and doors that don’t lock to secure young children from going outdoors at will. There was also a broken board on the dock and on the porch. Consider that you’re camping, and you’ll love it!

Lovely location

We have always loved Melvin Village and Melvin Wharf Road. This was our first year in this house.

Perfectly charming!

We love this property and can't wait to return! Wonderful views and charming decor, plus occasional visits from neighborhood chickens! Yesterday, we met the chickens' owner, we've nicknamed her Chicken Momma, she was so kind and patient as she showed my son the chicken coop, answered his many many questions and let him collect the eggs! Nearby public way dock and beach adds just the right amount of activity and playmates for our children.

Great views of the lake!

My family and I rented here for the first time this year and were very happy with the accommodations. The access to the lake and views were excellent. Having a lawn area was great for badminton and bocce ball. The kids loved jumping off the dock and pilings on the town pier located close to the cottage. Melvin Bay is a very quaint and beautiful village. We will be returning next year!

Great flat lawn for kids to play on!

This is my 3rd time renting this cabin and I love it!! The proximity to the lake is terrific and the kids love to fish off the end of the dock. There were 2 negative things on this visit....each and every person who entered the cabin was disgusted by the horrible smell of seafood (lobster??). It was pervasive and nauseating...especially in the kitchen!! The next morning I pulled the stove apart and scrubbed under the surface holding the burners (it was obvious that something was being boiled, it boiled over and was never cleaned up). I also removed all 4 burners and had to scrub the pans underneath...which had burnt residue on them and actually should have been replaced. This is a situation that HAD to have been noticed by the cleaning crew and should have been taken care of....I shouldn't have had to take time out of my vacation to remedy something that should have been taken care of. Also, last year there was a terrific welcome basket with maps, pamphlets about the area, note pad and even snacks! This year there was nothing but instructions on how the cabin should be left. The owners may want to consider changing cleaning crews or, at the least, addressing the kitchen situation. It was extremely disappointing.
