Rural respite and country charm on the doorstep of The Dales
Rugged moors and soft voluptuous dales, Yorkshire serves up helpings of English countryside at its most iconic. Add in pretty stone hamlets, historic market towns, imposing castles, walking trails and cosy pubs, and you have a county that delivers a wealth of holiday pleasures.
In a stunning location and with exceptional views, Natural Retreats Yorkshire Dales is set in 55 acres of pristine countryside providing the perfect rural respite. Peacefully located but only a short walk from the charming market town of Richmond, our lodges are ideal for a relaxing mid-week break or weekend getaway in the Dales.
Our latest addition to the Yorkshire Dales team, Amanda, describes her experiences as the newly appointed Retreat Manager, what she loves about this magical location and her top tips for guests!
What do you love most about your job?
I absolutely love how no two days are ever the same, from meeting new guests, welcoming back return guests and dealing with any challenges that arise on site! Also being a part of someone's wedding day on site is amazing!
How does your role at Natural Retreats Yorkshire Dales differ from Castlemartyr?
My role at Yorkshire Dales is quite different to that of my role at Castlemartyr, in the Yorkshire Dales although the site is smaller it tends to be constantly busy with the added responsibility of weddings and corporate events in the Sanctuary whilst ensuring that all of our guests receive the amazing Natural Retreats experience they deserve!
Your heart beats faster when…?
I walk up the hill from Lodge 19 to the Sanctuary...gets me every time!!
Your ultimate travel destination?
Bora Bora! Hopefully someday I'll get there!!
From your point of view, what makes Natural Retreats ‘stand out from the crowd’?
For me, it has to be the amazing team of people we have and the service that we deliver across our numerous beautiful sites.
The White Swan
The White Swan in Gilling West has really nice, casual bar food and is just a 10 minute drive away from our Retreat.
La Piazza in nearby Richmond is an authentic Italian restaurant, the perfect spot for lunch or for that special occasion.
Big Sheep Little Cow
Big Sheep Little Cow in Bedale is a fantastic family day out, where children get a chance to bottle feed lambs and baby piglets.
Forbidden Corner is a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers, follies and surprises created within a four acre garden in Leyburn, but booking is advisable
The Asygarth Falls are a lovely spot to go and visit, with some lovely walks nearby. For movie fans, interestingly some Robin Hood scenes were shot here.
