Our Top Five Romantic Things to Do in the Smoky Mountains

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and there is no place quite as romantic as the Smoky Mountains. Treat the one you love to a stay in one of our cozy cabins, where you can relax in front of a roaring fire and take in the stunning mountain panoramas. While you’re here, be sure to take advantage of some of the many romantic things to do. Here are five of our favorites:

1. Ride the Ober Gatlinburg Arial Tramway.
Take your sweetheart for a ride on one of the largest trams in the nation, where you can enjoy spectacular Smoky Mountain views from a height of over 1,000 feet. Trams depart regularly every twenty minutes for the 2.1-mile journey to the top of the mountain. Be sure to bring your camera with you!

2. Hike to the top of Mt.Le Conte to witness the sunrise or sunset
The views at both times of day from here are spectacular, but it takes some effort getting there. At 6,593 feet, Mt. Le Conte is the third highest peak in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and you can’t reach its numerous overlooks by car. As such, if you and the love-of-your-life are avid hikers, this is the spot for you. Clocking in at five miles, the Alum Cave Trail is the shortest path to take to the summit. But be prepared to climb 2,763 feet to get there!

3. Wine tasting on the Rocky Top Wine Trail.
Are you and your beloved wine enthusiasts? If so, you simply must take a tour of the Smoky Mountain Wine Country's, Rocky Top Wine Trail, which includes five wineries, as well as a distillery. Free wine tastings are offered at each location, and several wineries offer free tours, during which they explain the wine making process.

4. Ride the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel at The Island.
Visit the spirited town of Pigeon Forge and take a ride on The Island’s 200-foot-tall Great Smoky Mountain Wheel; touted as one of the tallest attractions in the Southeast. The glass enclosed gondolas allow for optimal viewing of the spectacular Smoky Mountain vistas. Photo opportunities abound here!

5. Go ice skating at Ober Gatlinburg.
Hold hands with your sweetheart as you glide across the ice at Ober Gatlinburg’s indoor 140’ x 75’ ice rink. Skating sessions last three hours. Afterward, enjoy a bit of shopping in the enclosed mall that surrounds the skating area. Be sure to pick up something for your valentine, so that they can remember your trip to the Smokies!

The Smoky Mountains are the perfect place to spend Valentine's Day with the one you love. With so many things to do and see, you can create new and lasting memories here. So, start planning your romantic escape to the Smokies today...Valentine's Day will be here before you know it!
