Meet South Fork Lodge GM, Kevin Kapalka
Visit a stream or river near South Fork Lodge, Idaho, and you’ll likely find Kevin Kapalka right in his element. This avid fly fisherman has tackled every river from Idaho to Montana, and shows no sign of slowing down. As Natural Retreats South Fork Lodge’s General Manager, Kevin loves to show guests what makes fishing in Idaho so incredible.
Not only an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, Kevin has a degree in culinary arts and hospitality management, and his entire career has been in the travel sector. He’s worked everywhere from the Caribbean, to Hawaii, to both the East and West coasts of the United States. Before starting at South Fork Lodge, Kevin worked at a luxury ranch resort that specialized in family and adventure travel.
In addition to fishing the Snake River, Kevin is a man of hidden talents. When he's not hooking into browns, he can be found in the kitchen and, as an expert chef and foodie, a home cooked meal by Kevin is a real a treat! "I also love to mushroom hunt in the spring, work on my old Jeep, windsurf and sailboard and work in the garden" shares Kevin, "but more than anything, I just love to fish!" And if that isn't enough talent for one man, Kevin is also a volunteer firefighter, wildlife firefighter and EMT.
Prior to starting as the General Manager of South Fork Lodge, Kevin visited a few times as a guest and fell in love with the place. When the GM position became available he jumped at the chance and, with his years of hospitality experience and a serious love of fishing and travel, Kevin was a natural fit.
Be sure to stop by South Fork Lodge to wet a line and meet Kevin. “If I’m not at the lodge,” Kevin laughs, I’m probably behind it fishing or, better yet, floating on a stream or river fishing in Idaho, Montana or Wyoming.”

South Fork Lodge is a premier fly fishing lodge on the South Fork of the Snake River. Our 65 miles of the South Fork are some of the best tailwater and dry fly fisheries in the United States and are home to one of the country’s largest naturally reproducing Yellowstone cutthroat trout populations. We have an award winning guide team who offer unparalleled and unique guided fishing on these pristine waters. In addition to a memorable day of fishing, we are more than happy to arrange horseback riding, white-water rafting, golf and visits to nearby Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
