Life at Natural Retreats

What’s life like working at Natural Retreats and supporting our chosen charities? Team work is everything at Natural Retreats and when we have a spare moment we like to run events both in and out of work, to have fun together and also support charities which are close to our hearts.

Apart from the usual Christmas events, some examples of our recent adventures, activities and fundraising spectaculars include:

CHARITY WORK

Britain's Biggest Breakfast (Cancer Research UK)
The EU Regional Office in Wilmslow took part in Britain’s Biggest Breakfast in an effort to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Our EU team were incredibly generous, bringing a vast selection of breakfast treats and goodies into the office for all to share, all the while donating and having fun.

Habitat for Humanity
Carrie Wisman, Sarah Franzen and Brian Robinson from the Natural Retreats Charlottesville office recently spent a day volunteering for the charity Habitat for Humanity by building affordable housing for members of the local community. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian housing organization founded on the conviction that everyone should have a decent, safe, affordable place to live. Well done all involved, we're sure your time was greatly appreciated by all those who have benefited from the work led by Habitat for Humanity.

Movember
Movember is becoming a well-known campaign in the UK and US whereby men grow a comedy moustache throughout the month of November in order to raise awareness of men’s health issues and importantly raise some funds for the designated charities. In the first year of participation Natural Retreats raised over £11,000 ($17,500) and were ranked Number 1 team in the North West of England and 47th for the whole of the UK (helped hugely by the US team!). The Natural Retreats campaign is in honour and remembrance of Rob Fradley, our dear friend and NR colleague who we lost to cancer. Rob was an incredibly brave man who kept a smile on his face throughout the toughest of times. He loved Movember and would have very much enjoyed getting involved. So, with the teams across the EU and US we did Movember again and raised almost £4,000 ($6,400). A huge congratulations to all involved in raising money for this fantastic cause.

SOCIAL EVENTS

EU Team Sports Day
Each month, each department within the Natural Retreats head office takes on the challenge of organising a group social event and with many competitive colleagues we've already had some excellent activities! From pub quizzes to our recent indoor sports day, our fantastic team always gets firmly stuck in (especially with the obligatory pizzas and prosecco involved!)

EU Team Summer Picnics
Our famous picnics are an opportunity to involve the wider Natural Retreats family and enjoy the summer sunshine! The old and the young enjoyed a picnic at Tatton Park and competed in welly wanging, races and lots more!

EU Team Halloween Fun
Loving all things quirky here at Natural Retreats, our team is always willing to celebrate a national event, especially when fancy dress is part of the fun! For Halloween 2015 we held a spooky buffet, donned our finest (and creepiest) costumes and even played scary games amongst our busy schedules!

US Team 'Fridays After 4'
Once every month the social committee in Charlottesville arrange an event for the whole team, and every quarter these involve families too! A scavenger hunt across Charlottesville created a bit of competition and fun to get the weekend started, alongside a recent bowling evening which included everybody's families and children as well.
