International Company Starts Renting Lakes Region Properties
MOULTONBOROUGH — A high-end international vacation and holiday rental company that bought a local vacation rental business this summer has just begun renting properties in the Lakes Region.
Natural Retreats offers 218 properties on Lake Winnipesaukee, Lake Winnisquam, and other area lakes that had been owned by the Borrin family.
What was known as Preferred Vacation Rentals, a business founded by the late Mel Borrin, a lifelong Realtor in the area, is now Preferred Vacation Rentals by Natural Retreats.
The new vacation listings, according to his son, Mark Borrin, are something bigger and better than the Borrin family ever imagined.
“The Lakes Region’s vacation rental market has just been taken up a few notches,” said Borrin, now a local manager for Natural Retreats, and the former owner of the business.
Borrin sold the business to Natural Retreats in July. The company presented an opportunity for the business “that was beyond what we could have ever done.”
Founded by United Kingdom native Matt Spence more than a decade ago, Natural Retreats has grown to the top of the international vacation market, said Price Thomas, a Natural Retreats manager. The company has acquired hotel and rental properties in the United Kingdom, France, and throughout Europe, he said.
The company also owns and operates high-end hotels and properties in the United States, like the Teton Springs Lodge and Spa in Idaho, the Greystone Inn at Lake Toxaway in North Carolina, and the Alpine House in Jackson, Wyo.
Natural Retreats, which is headquartered in the United States in Charlottesville, Va., markets its properties to people in their late-20s and above, Thomas said.
“We mainly work with people who are well-established, who are making a little bit of money and are looking for a luxury experience,” he said.
Natural Retreats says it only works with top-level rental properties in beautiful locations. It markets its rentals across the U.S. and the world, and brings high-end tenants to its cabins and vacation homes, which are in “some of the most beautiful locations in the world,” Thomas said.
But what sets the company apart from other vacation and holiday rental companies is that it provides “concierge-level service” to people who use them.
“If you’re coming to one of our properties and you have young children, we’ll have high-chairs and babysitters waiting, and if you’re looking for an outdoor experience, we’ll have it all planned out for you,” Thomas said.
The company decided to buy Preferred Vacation Rentals “because the Lakes Region of New Hampshire is so beautiful,” he said. - See more here.
