4 Cornish picnic spots to
sink your teeth into...

Blessed with sparkling waters, hidden coves and miles of powder-soft sands, Cornwall boasts some of the most spectacular coastline in the whole of the UK. Mix in the freshest locally-caught seafood, creamy Cornish ice-cream and succulent pasties, and you have the recipe for a family feast to remember! Our self-catering kitchens have plenty of space to whip up a feast, so grab your foodie essentials and seek out some of our favourite picnic spots across Cornwall...

ONE | Daymer Bay, North Cornwall
FIND ON THE MAP
In touching distance of our coastal collection of self-catering cottages in North Cornwall (we recommend Spring Barn, Badgers Drift & Bolenowe), Daymer Bay is one to remember during your summer escape! Hidden at the end of a long and winding, single-lane track the public car-park reveals the most spectacular vista of golden sands, sheltered waters and the iconic Padstow beyond. Welcoming four-legged friends outside of peak season and excited explorers all year round, the sandy banks and sheltered rocky crops make an excellent base camp to set up your feast, whilst your loved ones work up an appetite racing up and down the beach. A small shop just off the beach stocks all your picnic essentials (including delicious ice-cream), meaning you can park up, get comfy and enjoy the incredible views for the entire day...(don't forget your suncream!)

TWO | Pentewan Beach, nr. Mevagissey
FIND ON THE MAP
Just minutes by car from Natural Retreats Trewhiddle, this award-winning beach is best discovered on two wheels. Guests can cycle straight from their doorstep (Famous Five style!), through woodland valleys, pretty meadows and along babbling rivers before happening upon the dainty, seaside village of Pentewan and the sands beyond. Stretching as far as the eye can see, this sunny spot has plenty of facilities to enjoy, should your picnic basket run dry! The now iconic Hubbox (pop-up surf shack surfing incredible retro diner-esque snacks) sits on the edge of the sands, and is just a hop and a skip from your chosen spot.

THREE | Porthcurnick Beach, nr. St Mawes
FIND ON THE MAP
For those looking for a touch of magic and mystery, with an unforgettable location to match, head off the beaten track to Portscatho's own Porthcurnick Beach (just 30 minutes South of Trewhiddle). This picture-postcard stretch of sand can only be accessed via scenic coastal path so is perfect for those wanting to escape the usual tourist hotspots. There are plenty of cosy corners to set up camp i, and munch on local treats whilst watching the waves break. For back-up provisions, the aptly named 'Hidden Hut' is nestled on the cliff top and serves up a daily-changing menu of 'simple beachfront refreshments' but also host Feast Nights on the sand where their wood-fired lobster is renowned across the county!

FOUR | Lusty Glaze Beach, Newquay
FIND ON THE MAP
Recently voted the UK's 'Beach Of The Year' by Sunday Times Travel, Lusty Glaze is a hidden gem on the Newquay coastline, and a must for avid explorers! Just under 10 minutes from our luxury apartments on Fistral Beach, Lusty Glaze is accessed by an intricate cliff side staircase which leads to an immaculate soft-sand beach with views to die for. Left the picnic on the kitchen counter? Never fear, the neighbouring Lusty Glaze Beach Bar serves up mouth-watering morsels of freshly-caught seafood right on the shore - bliss!
