This year, the incredible Tour de France comes to Yorkshire, with the Grand Départ kicking off in the city of Leeds on Saturday 5th July 2014. Be there to see it!
Natural Retreats Yorkshire Dales is located near to the ‘Première étape’ which sees riders leave Leeds and finish in Harrogate. Cyclists are taken through the magnificent Yorkshire Dales National Park, where the terrain gets steeper as the riders’ race a semi-circular route across the contours of the valleys.
Stay with us in one of our award-winning lodges and you’ll be perfectly placed to enjoy all the action of this incredible event. The best viewing points from Natural Retreats Yorkshire Dales are the towns of Reeth or Grinton, both are under 20 minutes away by car – or, if you prefer to cycle, the journey is only around eight miles.
The route is first led by a magnificent procession made up of various sponsors and support vehicles – which takes 40 minutes to pass by spectators, making for an amazing day out ahead of seeing the riders.
To celebrate the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire this year, we’ve installed bike hooks at all of our lodges so guest’s bicycles can be stored and secured. Guests will also receive a complimentary cycling route brochure on arrival. For more information on cycling routes in the Yorkshire Dales, visit Cycle the Dales.
