Teton National Park
Many of our guests enjoy visiting Teton National Park as part of their trip. Located at the heart of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, the Rockefeller Parkway connects Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. The late conservationist and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr. made significant contributions to several national parks including Grand Teton, Acadia, Great Smoky Mountains, and Virgin Islands.
In 1972 Congress dedicated a 24,000 acre parcel of land as John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway to recognize his generosity and foresight. Congress also named the highway from the south boundary of Grand Teton to West Thumb in Yellowstone in honor of Rockefeller.
The parkway provides a natural link between the two national parks and contains features characteristic of both areas. In the parkway, the Teton Range tapers to a gentle slope at its northern edge, while rocks born of volcanic flows from Yellowstone line the Snake River and form outcroppings scattered atop hills and ridges.
A good early start from the lodge gives you time to explore the park and be back to the lodge by late evening. Your trip will take you through Jackson Hole and into Grand Teton National Park.
Yellowstone National Park
The world's first national park, a sliver of which lies in eastern Idaho, now attracts more than 2.8 million visitors each year. Yellowstone's 3472 square miles contain hundreds of uncommon sites including 10,000 thermal features and more than 60 species of mammals, 320 species of birds and a half-dozen game fish. Elk, moose and bison can frequently be seen by passing visitors.
Many of our guests will visit the park as part of their journey to this magnificent region of the country. The best way to enjoy the park is to spend a night or two within the park itself after or before your multi-day fishing stay with us. This gives you the time needed to see the wonders of Yellowstone National Park without missing any fishing on the South Fork. However, with an early start, you could reach some of the main attractions and be back to the lodge in the late evening.
One route to Yellowstone is through Rigby, Rexburg, Ashton and into West Yellowstone. Another is through Jackson Hole, Teton National Park and to the South Entrance.
