How we choose our sites
Not every location is suitable for a Natural Retreats development.
To begin with, a site must meet the basic criteria of being part of, or very close to, a National Park to even be considered. Next, a location must reflect the nature of the National Park it is part of, reflecting the geographical and geological features of the region and its dramatic landscapes. Our aim is to capture something of the countryside we occupy from the moment you step outside one of our luxury residences.
We must also be certain that any development we undertake will not harm the local environment or have a negative impact on the local community and economy. And finally every location needs to offer something truly breathtaking and different to our guests.
Wherever possible we like our locations to have some inherent historical features that we can enhance and share back with our guests and the local community alike. In some places this means restoring a farm and its traditional working practices whereas with other locations we have become customdians of old mines we have been able to restore for posterity.
