Golf

Castlemartyr Golf Club is an 18 hole, championship,inland links course designed by Ron Kirby. The Club provides an unforgettable experience through its first-class service, Club House, Pro Shop and practice facilities. Our 18 hole golf course is available for residents to play at a charge of €45 per round from May through to September.

Personal Training (1 hour, €30)

Guests can book our Personal Trainer at a cost of €30 per hour. Every session is unique to your body type, needs, goals and the time frame in which you wish to achieve your results.

Fitness Class (1 hour, €10)

Pilates, Aqua and Step Aerobic classes can be enjoyed at a cost of €10 per person per class.

Swimming Lesson (45 minutes, €20)

Learn the basics from water adaption to confidence building in a supervised, friendly atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. You can also improve your technique, understanding and extending your skills and enjoying the whole experience.

The Spa features the chic Anne Sémonin Treatment collection which combines aromatic essential oils, trace elements and marine ingredients with the classic French touch, along with a holistic approach to treating the individual needs of your body and skin. All Anne Sémonin treatments can be tailor made for that personalised experience.

Participate in a Dynamic Yoga Relaxation Class

Our Yoga instructor, Peter Tompson has created an approach to yoga called 'dynamic relaxation' which is based on contemporary yoga practices. During the practice you will work through centering and grounding techniques, warm-up exercises, yoga postures, meditation and guided relaxation (€120).

Meditation Class

The class includes a guided meditation allowing you to relax your mind and get into a deeper state of consciousness (€120).

Estate Dogs

Our resident Red and White Irish Setters, Earl and Countess, are happy to take walks or play fetch with you during your stay. Why not take the leads and walk with them around Castlemartyr Estate? Enjoy the warmth of the sun, the beauty of the outdoors, and the happiness of man's best friend as you stroll the grounds.

Fly Casting and Fishing Tuition

Enjoy fly casting and fishing tuition on-site with our experienced Ghillie, Maurice Cahill (€45 per per person – 90 minutes duration). Groups: max. group size of 10 people, €50 per hour for a minimum of one and a half hours, or for a group of 10 this would be a total cost of €75 or €7.50 per head). Mixed instruction would be provided with 5 rods and 5 reels - guests will enjoy an interactive experience.

Carriage Tours (daily from 9am to 1pm)

Enjoy a private tour of the estate in our Horse and Carriage or our Pony and Trap. Tours take place within the 220 beautiful acres of grounds that surround Capella Castlemartyr and are a great way to see the estate. Roy Daly our Carriage Man has a long connection with the estate and can show our guests another aspect of Castlemartyr. Roy will point out particular points of interest and answer any questions that you may have. Pony and Trap: 30 minute tours available daily from 9am to 1pm. €10 per person (up to 3 Adults or 4 children) – please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Horse-drawn carriage experience: 90 minute tours €150 (up to 4 adults at one time) Pony and Trap Special Tour for Children: 60 minute tour in which Roy teaches the children how to steer the ponies and they may also help Roy in the Stables afterwards (up to 4 children at one time) €60

Target Archery

We have the finest coaching (including an ex-Irish Olympian instructor) and the most imaginative games available. Nock, Cock Fletch, Vane and Quiver, are just some of the strange terms you will learn when doing this most ancient of sports. Pre-Booking is a must; archery sessions last 90 minutes and require a minimum of 4 guests - €60 per person, 12 years and upwards.

Field Archery

A great alternative to Target Archery! Targets are placed on a circuit and competitors move in small groups from target to target. Each target has a varying number of pegs that competitors shoot from according to the rules of the competition. Targets can be traditional target sheets, animal prints or 3D foam animals. Pre-Booking is a must; sessions last 2-3 hours and require a minimum of 10 guests - €120 per person, 16 years and upwards.

Laser Clay Shooting

Are you an experienced marksman or have you never picked up a gun before? It doesn't matter, Laser Clay Shooting is great fun. These are REAL shotguns but have been remodelled to fire nothing more than an infrared beam at the clays launched from a traditional clay launcher, so you have all the excitement of a traditional clay pigeon shoot without any of the associated dangers. Pre-Booking is a must; clay shooting sessions last 90 minutes and require a minimum of 4 guests €65 per person, 12 years and upwards.

Heritage Trail of the Castlemartyr Demesne

Spend an hour touring the Manor House, Castle and Gardens with our local Historian – trace the steps of Sir Walter Raleigh, Oliver Cromwell and the Boyle Family (€40 for one guest, €60 for two guests – weekends only).

Day and Night Activities

Be lured by a game of croquet on Mitchell's Lawn during the Spring and Summer months. View the celestial skies with our telescope or scan the heavens with your own eyes as you warm yourself by the fire pit in the shadow of the Castle ruins. Relax in The Living Room where we have a lovely selection of books and board games.

Bicycles

Bicycle ride around the estate – why not hop on the Tandem if you are brave enough! We have a limited number of adult bikes which can be requested directly from the Door Man or our Reception staff.

Enjoy Afternoon Tea in Knights Bar

Relax in the inviting atmosphere with an indulgent Afternoon Tea served from 3pm to 5.30pm. €25 per person, €32 per person with a glass of champagne.

Falconry Displays

We can organise a static Falconry display consisting of Hawks, Falcons and Owls, giving you the opportunity to see birds of prey at close quarters and to learn more about their lifestyles, and the art of Falconry. The free flying demonstrations are action packed and involve high-flying, fast-moving raptors with commentary which gives an insight into the innate skill and power of these majestic and magnificent creatures. A simulated hunting demonstration can be included if required.

Minimum charge €360 (will cover up to 8 participants) - Duration approx one hour. €35 each for additional participants. Further reduced rates apply for bigger groups.

Hawk Walks

During your Hawk Walk you will learn how to handle and fly a Harris hawk, your instructor will introduce you to your hawk and there will be a brief introductory chat outlining the history of falconry. You will then set off around the magnificent grounds of Castlemartyr to fly your hawk free. As you fly the hawk around the Castlemartyr gardens, your instructor will provide guidance, advice and information about Falconry and the various Raptors used in Falconry today.

Minimum charge €360 (will cover up to 4 participants) - Duration approx. an hour and a half. €70 each for additional participants. Further reduced rates apply for bigger groups.
